UPCAT Passers 2011

The University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) results named 13,000 senior high school students as passers of the entrance examination out of the 67,000 students who took the test for the school year 2011-2012.
Here is the complete list of the UPCAT passers:
Top 50 qualifiers were given the Oblation scholarship which entails free tuition fee, miscellaneous, and book and transportation allowance.
UPCAT is a five-hour examination in English and Filipino which includes subtests on language proficiency, reading comprehension, mathematics, and science.
Successful applicants are ranked based on two factors: their combined weighted scores in the UPCAT and the general weighted average (GWA) of their high school grades.
Socioeconomic and geographic factors are also taken into consideration when ranking students to ensure UP’s “policy of democratization”.
The exam can only be taken once.
The number of examiners yearly shows that UP remains the top choice of Filipino students, given its relatively cheaper tuition despite a 300-percent tuition increase imposed in 2007.
